Antonio Caldara (1670 - December 28, 1736) was an Italian Baroque composer.
Caldara was innate inside Venice (exact date unknown), the boy of a fiddler. He became the chorister at St Mark's Cathedral, where he learned several instruments, probably under the instruction of Giovanni Legrenzi. Inside 1699 he relocated to Mantua, where he became master di cappella to the Duke. He remained there until 1707, then stirred in to Rome, becoming maestro di cappella to Prince Ruspoli. Within 1716, he obtained the similar post around Vienna, where he remained until his dying.
Caldara is better known as a composer of operas and oratorios. Many of his works use libretti by Metastasio.
